AAHS CEO honoured with 2018 Churchill Fellowship
Australian Affordable Housing Securities Ltd (AAHS) CEO, Samantha Evans has been awarded a 2018 Churchill Fellowship alongside a diverse range of other exemplary Australian seeking excellence in their chosen field.
The Winston Churchill Memorial Trust was formed with the principal objective of perpetuating and honouring Sir Winston’s memory by the awarding of memorial fellowships known as ‘Churchill Fellowships’. The Fellowships provide an opportunity for Australians to travel overseas to conduct research in their chosen field that is not readily available in Australia.
Samantha’s fellowship will explore how shared equity can become a mainstream solution to housing affordability in Australia.
“It has never before been more difficult for the average Australian to enter the housing market. It is critical we find better ways to address the widening gap between wages and house prices through innovative housing models. Shared equity schemes are one option to address this concern as they facilitate home ownership for those households who may have difficulty purchasing a home through the open market” Samantha Evans, AAHS CEO explains.
The Churchill Fellowship will allow Samantha to travel to the United Kingdom and the United States of America to learn from affordable housing practitioners, and leaders in the property development, valuation and financial services sectors who lead the way in shared equity provision.
“It is an honour to be awarded a Churchill Fellowship and to be part of an inspirational and diverse group of Australians” says Samantha.
